Description of the Music

In today’s modern orchestra symphony, the double bass is described as the biggest and lowest-pitched bow-string instrument. The music of double bass falls into three categories:

Western Classical

Western classical double bass music is divided into three categories – solo, chamber, and orchestral. The role of the double bass in Western classical music is to complete the lowest line of music. It is played frequently, doubling the cellos one octave lower.

It is also played in chamber ensembles where double bass music is prominent and melodic. Double bass music in chamber ensembles is the foundation of all instruments.

On the other hand, in solo double bass music, the instrument has a deep range. Hence it is fluid and accompanied by other instruments. The strings of the instrument are thicker, and it takes longer for vibration cycles to complete for the contrabass.

The Mystery of the Little Bass

This little Techier Bass is being looked at for authentication using dendrochronology to date the wood and verification of the label “David Tecchler 1734.” Weigh in and let us know what you think.

It’s set up as a Solo Bass tuned ADGC with a remarkable sound that can carry any Concert Hall. I have heard great comments from luthiers regarding this instrument about, its looks, beauty of sound, and unique tuning machines. I will invite performers to play this instrument and record some of the music listed here at lownotemusic.com.

We look forward to hearing from you!
